 I Know Where to Stand

I Know Where to Stand
© 2010 Greg Judd

Verse
I first thought I could keep it all together
On second thought
I’m pretty sure I cain’t

She said dad, I’d like to leave
I’ve got to let her
So I scrounged around
and found this can of paint

I drew a big old X down by the drive
So when my mind starts going numb
And tears attacks my eyes

Chorus 1
I’ll know where to stand
Though fear invades my brain
I’ll go there to stand
And as she drives away

I’ll mouth the words I love you
And wait for her reply
From that place my eyes will chase her
Clean out of sight

That’s my plan

I know where to stand and wave… goodbye

Verse
I said let’s take a final walk
Around our fence line
To see if it don’t spark some memories

The stories flowed
We laughed - We cried
And then we hugged for a little while
It was there I came to grips
With her release

Then I explained the big old X
Down by the drive
And said
When you get in your car
If I freak out
It’s OK, ‘cause I…

Chorus 2
I know where to stand
Though fear invades my brain
I’ll go there to stand
And as you drive away

I’ll mouth the words I love you
And wait for your reply
From that place my eyes will chase you
Clean out of sight

That’s my plan

I know where to stand and wave… goodbye

Bridge
What happens next
God only knows
My plan… it only goes
Out to the X down by the road

Chorus 1

 Naked We Go

Naked We Go
© 2008 Greg Judd

Verse 1
The point of conception
I didn’t have much in mind
Now there are pats on the back
And on a baby’s behind

Not much to say
I kind of like it that way

Chorus
What’s wrong?
What is wrong?

We’re showing off our skin
And we’re covering up our souls
Time keeps dividing flesh and bone
Naked we come
Naked we go

Verse 2
Our maker ponders down
Seeing through our clothes
We’re wearing our Sunday best
But we’re terribly exposed

Pretending all is well
Hoping He can’t tell

Chorus

Bridge

Between our grand arrival
And the day we will depart
We’re all a bunch of mess ups
All dressing up
Trying to look the part

Chorus

 Face the Facts, You're Old

Face the Facts, You’re Old

Verse 1
First goes your vision
And then your hearing
Age spots will make you scream

You’ll rub and sprinkle
Stuff on your wrinkles
And weight loss
You know that’s just a dream

Chorus
Metabolism starts to slow
Your teeth now sleep out in a bowl
You’ve traded steak for casserole
So I’ve been told

So just …
Get on home, make out your will
The undertaker, he’s dressed to kill
You’re just about ready
For the streets of gold
Face the facts… You’re Old
Face the facts… You’re Old

Verse 2

You spend your vacation bucks
On medication
And down at that Scooter Store

Much Preparation H
Some constipation
And you’ll fight
But you just won’t win that war

Bridge
Like  your back some terms

Jump up and nag ya
I'm talkin’ Sominex, Geritol
And words that rhyme with Niagra

Final Chorus
Metabolism it starts to slow
Your teeth now sleep out in a bowl
You’ve traded steak for casserole
From here its all downhill, I’m told

So just …
Get on home, make out your will
The undertaker, he’s dressed to kill
You’re just about ready
For the streets of gold
So I’ve been told there’ll be

Ending
Corns & bunions, Fungus toes
The weight hangs on
Your hair lets go
You once were hot, but now you’re cold
Face the facts… You’re Old

  Christmas Today

Christmas Today
© 2009 Greg Judd

Verse 1
The snow is falling down
White appears to cover green and brown
Without a sound

The traffic goes away
Children, bundled up, go out to play
No school today

Chorus
We’re all waiting for December 25
But every day I see your face
And look into your eyes
For me its Christmas
Christmas today

Verse 2
There’s lots of red and green
Nestled with the gifts beneath the tree
Our manger scene

Cards come in the mail
Friends are gathered talkin’ what’s on sale
One thought prevails

Chorus

Bridge
I don’t care so much about the presents
The packages and boxes
Can’t contain the way I feel
Knowing you love me
I know you love me

Chorus
